26/12/2009 - Under 14s Reds Xmas Trip to Ipswich

On Saturday 12th December the Under 14's Reds had our Christmas trip to Portman Road for the day.

The trip included a tour of the stadium, training, lunch and the boys formed a guard of honour on the pitch for the players before enjoying the Championship match between Ipswich and Blackpool which finished 3-1 to Ipswich.

A good day appeared to be had by all and was well earned after a good first half to our season.

30/08/2009 - U9's at Little Oakley 7 a side tournament

The U9's entered both the Blues and Reds in the Little Oakley Tournament, the Blues had a full squad of 9 players the reds only had 7. The teams were drawn in different leagues and on paper the Reds had the hardest league. The Reds first game was against a really strong Stanway Villa team, in the early minutes Oli hit the post, but Stanway Villa came on strong and beat us 5-0. The Blues first game was against Lawford, a game which we looked comfortable in and managed to win 2-0 with goals from Reece and a cracker from Charlie. Reds 2nd game was against the hosts Blue team we were defeated again by 2-0, but the boys showed a real improvement from the first game. The Blues 2nd match was against Great Bentley, this was a really close game, Great bentley took the lead, but a minute later Charlie chesed a long ball through the middle and manageed to slot it home to give us the equaliser the game finished 1-1. The Reds final game was against Clacton United we lost this game again and it showed we only had a squad of 7 as the players were getting tired, the final score was 3-1 our goal scored by Jake with a great volley. The Blues final game in the league was against Little Oakley Reds a draw would put us through to the semi finals we managed to win this 3-0 with a great left foot shot from Isaak and 2 from Korben.

In the semi final the Blues were drawn against the winners of the other league Little Oakley Blues we managed to win this 1-0 our gaol coming from a Luke W corner haeded in by Isaak.

The final was against Stanway Villa the boys battled really welll and we held our own but ended up loosing 1-0.

THis was a great run out for the boys before the start of the season both teams played some good passing football and the effort was there from all of them. Well done boys. Stanway Tournament next Saturday be at Villa Road for 8.45.

05/07/2009 - U8's at Colchester Villa Tournament

The under 8's entered 2 teams in the Colchester Villa Tournament on 4th July, with Jamie being away I tried my best to watch both teams as much as I could. I would like to thank Simon and Tarek for helping me out with the teams.

The Blues 1st game was against Woodbridge Town A and we didn't start well falling behind within a minute but Sam managed to find an equaliser with a superb shot from outside the box across the keeper. Our second game was against Tempest, which we managed to win 4-0 with goals from Korben, Luke C, Jacob and Sam. Our last 2 games against Notley Youth and Stanway Villa Blues were both real close games with no team managing to find the decisive goal. So the Blues ended the tournament undefeated with 1 win and 3 draws.

The Reds opened against Holland FC Reds and produced a fine display of passing football which ended in a well deserved 3-0 win with goals from Harry, Adam and Reece. The 2nd game against Cornard Dynamos A was a tight affair which was only decided by a brilliant powerfull shot from Reece to give us a 1-0 victory. In the 3rd game against Tiptree Minors Panthers the boys had to fight hard against a very physical opponent, I thought we were unlucky not to get the win the final score 0-0. The final game was against Woodbridge Town B and the boys managed to win this game with a well taken goal from Adam. The Reds finished the tournament unbeaten with 3 wins and 1 draw, and without conceeding a goal.

I was really pleased with the effort from both teams today to go all 8 matches unbeaten was great. I would like to wish Sam and Joe all the best for the future as this was their last appearance for the Blues today, they will both be really missed. Well done today boys some great football played by both teams, Tim
