Friendly against runners up
By Jamie Edmonds.

After playing the winners of the other league we came up against the runners up today. We had a squad of 9 with Stephen injured. Alex and Jake Gregory stepped down to the bench to start the game. I started with Jake Jackson up front and I told the boys to play how we have done throughout the whole season and we can win the game. Both teams started off slowly and we were trying to get the ball down and play football. We put together a couple of good passing moves but were unable to find the early goal. Stanway were the team who had the first opportunity but Adham denied them with the opening goal with a great save down to his right. We finally made the breakthough by a long kick upfield by Adham that bounced several times and ended up bouncing over the Stanway keeper. This was then followed up by a second from Jake Gregory who found himself in the right place at the right time to finish well past the keeper.

We went into the break 2-0 up and I made a few changes. I told the boys to keep playing football and the win will come. During the second half we didin't start well and Stanway started to dominate the midfield. Stanway found themselves with 4 players through on goal and managed to get a goal back to make it 2-1. Adham continued to keep us in the game by making another couple of great saves when a Stanway player has been through on goal. We held out to win the game 2-1 and put in a solid performance. Well done boys, see you all next week.
