Friendly Against Stanway Villa
By Tim Edmonds.

After playing the runners up of the West league last week we had another difficult challenge against the third placed tem, Stanway Villa. We only had 7 players with Issak away on holiday and Charlie not available so I started with Jacob in goal and Liam and Reece at the back. A midfield 3 of Luke W, Luke C and Adam and Korben up front. The game started well with both teams playing some decent football and the boys looked like they were trying to pass the ball. About half way through the first half we were awarded a corner from the right, Luke W produced a good corner which Reece headed powerfully in to the net giving the Villa keeper no chance. We were getting caught at the back a few times and it was thanks to some great defending from Liam that we managed to go in to the break with a 1-0 lead.

At half time I changed it about a bit putting Adam at the back with Reece and moving Liam in to the centre of midfield. I warned the boys that we were getting caught at the back and we needed to make sure we marked from the back and we didn't leave ourselves out numbered.

Early in the second half Villa found an equaliser, we got out numbered at the back and their unmarked striker gave Jacob no chance with a good finish. Both teams were pushing for the winner we hit the post and then Luke C smashed a shot against the bar from just inside the area. Villa also had their chances, Jacob making some good saves. THe game finsihed 1-1. This was a good result for the boys, we played some decent football but we need to work on defending from the back and our passing needs to improve (looks like more 3 touch at training boys). Well done boys see you all on Saturday, Tim
