Colchester Athletic Reds vs Frinton & Walton Reds
After two weeks without a match, due to water logged pitches, Athletic finally recorded their first home win of the season after a narrow 3-2 win over Frinton & Walton Reds.
Despite a good start from the Reds, it was Frinton who took the lead with one of their first shots, a superbly struck volley from the edge of the area gave J.Scott no chance. Despite the setback the boys continued to create more chance and were eventually rewarded when W.Parker-Wilson's cross-shot was turned in from close range by K.Cheung to make the score 1-1.
Half Time - Colchester Athletic Reds 1-1 Frinton & Walton Reds
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with Colchester having plenty of possession but with little to show from it. J.Farmery broke through only to be taken on out in the area, only for the unsighted referee to wave play on.
Unbelievably Frinton scored a second goal when a tame shot was pushed out by J.Scott, the Frinton striker followed up to punish Athletic with only 14 minutes remaining.
After several changes the Reds were level again when W.Parker-Wilson turned a S.Kilgallen throw into the net with the outside of his foot with 6 minutes on the clock.
It looked like being another home draw until with minutes remaining N.McKenzie superbly finished into the far corner from just inside the area, much to the delight of the boys and everyone on the sideline.

With 10 minutes left it looked like our season was over, but the boys showed great character to keep going and finally get their reward. We do seem to make hard work of things and at half time i fully expected us to win by 3 or 4 goals. But well done anyway boys, this could prove to be a springboard for the final 6 matches -Well Done!!
